Get this thing off of me!!!

Last night I went to James and Steve’s house for dinner. Everyone brought something, so we ended up with cheese and crackers, sourdough bread with a garlic dipping sauce, steak, pork marinated in the same garlic sauce, chicken sausages, garlic cheese bread, and coleslaw. Not bad for a bunch of guys. It’s kind of nice just hanging out with the guys and talking crap.

I slept miserably last night with the cast on. It really wasn’t too bad during the day. I just had to get used to driving with it. Once I got into bed, I realized how uncomfortable it could be. I wanted to tear the stupid thing off all night long. I woke up this morning with bruises on my ankle and the top of my foot from banging around in the cast all night. Showering was an adventure too. The doctor suggested a special airtight rubber sock that “slips” over the cast and then you pump all of the air out (no jokes please). Well this thing didn’t exactly slip. It took quite a bit of effort from Vanessa and I to get this thing over the cast. I didn’t have a whole lot of patience at 5:20 am. Once it was on it worked well and I was able to shower without a problem. I was able to get my jeans on, so I won’t have to hear any more jokes about wearing shorts at work. I can’t believe I have to do this for another 4 weeks – minimum!
