I'm never leaving home again!!!

We had the DirectTV Satellite installed today. Like any typical woman Vanessa heard "discount" and went a little nuts. We now have the NFL season pass, and EVERY available channel (including HBO, Showtime, Cinemax, The Movie Channel, Starz, etc.). This comes out to 220 channels of pure entertainment (not including the NFL Channels). This is, of course, in addition to the two Tivo's. Albert is going to have so much fun house sitting.

I guess I won't be exercising anytime soon...

I must be in the front row!

I can’t believe how much stuff there is to do for this wedding.  Actually, most of it is done.  There is still about 30 things left to do, but they are all small things like what music to play, what writing we want on the cake, what shots we want the photographer to take, blah, blah, blah…

Today I started working on the seating for the wedding reception.  It’s going to be a challenge to try and make everyone feel like they we sat them at a good table.  There is a lot to consider.  Do they get along?  Are their personalities similar?  Will they have something in common to talk about (other than how good I look)?  Will they feel left out?  Is this the reject table?  Are they in the back corner?

Maybe I’m over thinking this.

So far, things are going pretty well.  I have only had to make a couple of adjustments.  My newest idea is to put all of my good friends in a back corner.  I know they will make the trek to the dance floor and they will not be offended.

Matt… you’re sitting next to Quigley, Paul Hogan, Outback Jack, and Steve Irwin

What trip to Vegas?

What a great weekend!  There were so many great moments that happened in Vegas.  Unfortunately (and fortunately) I can’t discuss it.  Otherwise, this could have been a really entertaining blog entry.

Thing I learned while in Vegas on this trip:

1.  A lazy susan in a 5-Star Chinese restaurant can be a lot of fun.
2.  People from Northern California will eat anything for only $4.
3.  Ryan’s mom was voted “Mom of the Year”.
4.  Never change rooms and forget anything behind.
5.  Saying “I’m going to take one for the team” right in front of the girl is not wise.

Mike did a great job of organizing everything.  There wasn’t one minute I was bored or wishing I was doing something else.  Thanks to everyone for making this a great trip.

I'll have pancakes in the age of enlightenment

Mike: Do you think we'll get there by midnight?
Trent: Baby, we're going to be up five hundy by midnight!

Today I’m off to Vegas for my bachelor party.  The day(s) I have dreamed of for years.  I want this to be the trip that everyone talks about, but no one talks about.  Mike did a great job of planning everything.  Now that I think about it, maybe I should wait to congratulate him until after the trip.  Who knows, maybe he didn’t do a good job of planning and he just talks a good game.  Anyway I’m looking forward to it.  Four days in sin city full of relaxation, good friends, oobies (yes I spelled that correctly), gambling, drinking, and possibly a little sleeping.  I was up until 1:00 AM last night getting everything ready for the trip and was in the shower at 5:30 AM getting ready for work.  I wanted to start abusing my body today so it doesn’t go into shock tomorrow.  If I don’t survive this will be my last blog…  Otherwise I’ll see you again on Monday.

Ben Franklin ain’t got nothing on me

I did something stupid this weekend.  When I hired the moving guys they did a really good job.  They covered everything in blankets, wrapped everything in saran wrap, and taped all of the loose cords.  When they cut off the tape for the lamp cord, they also cut part of the cord.  On Saturday, I went to the Home Depot and purchased some lamp wire and a new plug.  I watched my dad rewire a lamp before, so I was confident.  I took apart the lamp, pulled the old wire out of the base, attached the new wire to the light bulb sockets, and started running the new cord down the lamp to the base.  That’s when I realized I had purchased the wrong plug.  So, in the meantime I figured I would use the old plug and just connect the new wiring to it.

So here comes the stupid part.  I cut the old cord… while it was still plugged into the wall.  I heard several loud snaps and then saw a blue cloud.  Luckily the wire cutters had a rubber grip, so I didn’t get shocked.  I burned two holes through the wire cutters and burned a little spot on my foot where a small piece of the wire cutters landed after getting singed.

Anyway, the lamp is fixed now.

Keeping up with the Jones’

I finally gave into temptation yesterday and purchased a 3-room Direct TV satellite system with a Tivo built in. Yes, I already have a Tivo, but now I will have the capability of recording 3 different shows at once while watching something previously recorded on one and live TV on the other. It was a good deal. After rebates it will be $79.00, but I also receive a $50 gift card to Best Buy. Within the next month, I will get rid of Adelphia Cable and Internet Service. I will be switching to Yahoo DSL too if everything goes right, so expect a change in my email address soon.

Next item on the list… 65” HDTV

With a dot, not a feather

I have been working with a company called Systech USA at work. They do consulting for warehousing systems. They are all from India and all have interesting names. Srinivasan Ramaswamy, Bala Varadarajan, and Uday (I don't know his last name yet). There is a second company I have been considering as well. His name is Senthil Angamuthu and is also from India. Strange names, but much more entertaining than "Bob".

Where are my belts?

The move is over. It was a treat sitting on the couch watching TV while three guys lugged the refrigerator, washer, dryer, etc. down the stairs and into the truck. Just to save some money we moved anything smaller than a coffee table ourselves. That ended up being about 9 car/truck loads (thank you Vanessa, Dad, and Vicki). So now we have about 40 boxes to unpack. We have most of the “vital” items already set-up, but it will take a couple of weeks to unpack all of the boxes and get everything se-up. By “vital” I of-course mean the TV, Tivo, computer, cable modem :).

Unlike our last place, the new place has plenty of guest parking, so we will be inviting people over more often. See you soon…

Try moving that about 2 inches to the left…

The long move from Yorba Linda to Yorba Linda has started. Vanessa and I started moving boxes yesterday. I was wavering on hiring movers. I was thinking about doing a lot of the work myself and hiring one or two friends to help. After moving boxes yesterday, I changed my mind. Why lift when you can just point? Today I hired a moving company. I feel so relieved. It will be nice to have everything moved and still have the energy to unpack and set everything up. Vanessa and I will continue to move boxes, small things, and set things up for the rest of the week.

I did what???

This was a great weekend. Vanessa and I got a lot done on Saturday and went out to dinner with Ed and Tiffany. Sunday I was ready to spend the 4th of July relaxing and spending time with friends. I had a great time at Jennie’s parent’s home. Great food, great friends, and supposedly I had some good drinks too. We spent all day just catching-up with Diane, Albert, Keith, Ryan, Kirsten, Erica, Jeff, Jennie, Adam, and Aldo. Okay… I didn’t really catch-up with Aldo, but I did meet him.

Monday I slept in until 10 am and had a very lazy morning. Vanessa was out with her Mom and Aunt Beth looking for material for the bridesmaids’ dresses. Thankfully, they found the material, so that’s another task off of our list. Later in the day we met-up with my mom and saw Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. It was good. I think it was on the same level as the previous two Harry Potter films. There were way too many screaming kids in the theatre. Some guy kept getting really pissed-off and started complaining to the manager. One-by-one the mom’s and kids were asked to leave. The last couple of minutes were actually tolerable. I only got kicked in the back of the head once! It was a mom carrying her kid.
